Drop-In Activities

The Seaside Community Society sponsors drop-in activities at Costin Hall. Anyone is welcome and encouraged to participate in these activities. There is a drop in fee for each activity that allows the Society to operate and maintain the building. If you'd like to check something out, feel free to come by and participate. Non-members can participate in an activity twice for the drop-in fee only. If you decide you would like to continue to participate, you can then become a Seaside Community Society Member for a $15 fee. If you have any questions please call 250-390-2831.

Yoga Mats

Gentle Yoga

Gentle yoga is perfect for people who want to try yoga for the first time or for those who are looking for a softer approach to their practice. In this class we will combine gentle yoga poses with breathing exercises and restorative postures to stretch and strengthen the body, reduce stress and calm the mind. Everybody is welcome to practice yoga in this supportive environment. No yoga experience is required.

Table Tennis

Table tennis is a thriving sport on Vancouver Island and is a great way to get exercise and socialize. Play for fun or get competitive. The Costin Hall group currently plays on four tables and there are two more coming soon! Newcomers welcome.

Soundwave Choir

Soundwave is currently not meeting at the Hall due to Covid-19.  Please check back for a start date.

Soundwave was created out of a desire to offer something fun for the over 55 community, in a very relaxed, non-judgmental, non-threatening way. It is all inclusive by being a "no-audition" group, so everyone who just loves to sing, good, bad, great or otherwise is welcome. It's a place to gain confidence and create new friends. Led by a (semi-retired) professional musician and writer, Soundwave includes a great band - which makes this choir a little different - being backed by a full band.  Everyone and anyone is welcome to sing, however, there is a high skill level and professionalism required for the musicians backing up the choir. Zumba and Zumba Gold

Zumba and Zumba Gold activities are not currently being offered due to Covid-19.  Check back for possible start dates.

 

The Zumba® program is a dance fitness-party with a contagious blend of Latin and international rhythms that provides a fun and effective workout.

Zumba Gold®. Perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity.

How It Works:  The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba® choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. Every one is welcome, except children. Great for someone with an injury, wanting to work on coordination, or just starting to get moving again. Also inclusive to people with special needs.

Short Mat Bowling

Short Mat will be starting Oct 16.

Chair Yoga

Keep your mind, body and spirit healthy through the use of the breath and meditation, as well as this gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting in a chair, or standing using a chair for support.  A mat is required as the area is not carpeted. Chair yoga is generally practiced wearing loose, comfortable clothing and socks/shoes. 

 

Join Susan or Silvia, both Certified YTT 200 Hr. teachers for an hour of wellness. 

 

$5.00 drop-in.
